Built for people with energy to burn, the Dodge Nitro is your daily dose of adrenaline. The first-ever mid-size Dodge SUV to take the streets with a commanding presence, sporty performance and flexible interior.

Visually, it's robust and bold. Dominated by a huge signature crosshair grille, bulging wheel arches, a clamshell bonnet and high shoulder line. Inside the cabin design is contemporary and roomy enough for five.

The 3.7-litre V6 SX has 16" wheels, air conditioning, six air bags, ABS with ESP, rear parking sonar, six-disc CD stereo, cruise control, electric windows and mirrors, tyre pressure monitoring and remote central locking. Also included is a full-spare, luggage cover and a 65/35 folding rear seat.

The SX-T adds a leather multi-function cruise control, 20" alloys, auto dimming mirror, trip computer, body-colour bumpers, chrome accents and electric driver's seat.

To enhance the car's versatility, the front passenger seat folds flat to accommodate long loads. The SXT has a "load 'n' go" cargo floor that slides out 450mm for easy loading and unloading of heavy items.

Under the body is a conventional coil-sprung front suspension and solid rear axle. The steering is rack-and-pinion. It uses a switchable four-wheel-drive-system allowing the driver to alternate between two-wheel drive and a part-time four-wheel-drive.

Two engines are available - a 3.7-litre petrol V6 with 151kW and 314Nm and a 2.8-litre 4-yl CRD turbo diesel with 130kW and 460Nm.

Transmissions are a four-speed automatic for V6 models and a five-speed auto for the diesel.

Fuel economy is an impressive 12.1L/100km (petrol) and 9.4L/100km (Diesel).
